Absence from school
We have been reviewing procedures for reporting children’s absence from school. In the first instance please telephone the office to inform us that your child will be absent and the reason.
When your child is unwell, it can be hard deciding whether to keep them off school and we appreciate that parents keep their children home when they are feeling poorly. The NHS have published the following guidance that may help make the decision easier.
- Is your child well enough to do the activities of the school day? If not, keep your child at home.
- Does your child have a condition that could be passed on to other children or school staff? If so, keep your child at home.
- Would you take a day off work if you had this condition? If so, keep your child at home.
When your child returns to school you will need to send a letter or complete a `Reasons for absence’ form that will be available on the website or from the school office. I have been advised that without written explanation I will not be able to authorise the absence in this instance.
Thank you for your continued support in this matter.
